I bought this to fit around a draughty external door in my sitting room which doesn’t get opened in winter. Absolutely marvellous! So good that I have now installed it around our draughty windows too. Quick and simple. My only slight criticism is that I would have liked to purchase a shorter length.

Previous owner had filled gaps between boards with screwed up brown paper and filler that had dried out and did not look good. StopGap recommended by joiner who did some repairs to the floor but I was initially sceptical as the gap between the boards was random along the length of the board and varied from less than 1 mm to about 10 mm and I was uncertain how StopGap would cope. When I installed StopGap I was very pleased with how it coped with the variable gap and also felt how it stopped the draughts coming from between the boards. I was able to feel the difference between a gap with and without StopGap. The finished look was also good. Had to buy a second roll of StopGap and impressed by very quick delivery.

Stop gap provides a low cost practical way of sealing gaps in floor boards. We live in an old house and have used your products twice before in floor boards and between sash window transoms.
It has proved effective – after time the product begins to harden and doesnt have the same flexibility when its new. That said it is well priced and still our product of choice

Initially asked for a sample which arrived very promptly. Then ordered a reel of stopgap and was able to fit it really easily. I’ve done this in the summer so haven’t noticed the effect of it yet but must be better than having gaps between my floorboards. Very happy with the customer service I received and the product.

Found StopGap after a Google search for a gap filler for our bedroom floorboards in our 1930s semi. We liked the gaps between the boards, which now look great painted with white chalk paint, but wanted to prevent drafts and dust rising up. StopGap was simple and quick to use and certainly seems to have eliminated the draft! We have also used it between the bottom of the skirting and the floor in the bedroom and on the ground floor between the bottom of the skirting and the original oak strip flooring. Great product…love that it’s Welsh too!

I was pleased with this product, thanks. I set out to fill gaps with pine slivers, which was the best solution but hard work. After getting halfway, I finished smaller gaps with your product and it worked well and very easily after a good cleaning of the gaps. Looks to me like I could fill in on it with mastic if I decide to paint. Anyone tried that?
PS: I over-ordered though. One reel would have been plenty for half the gaps in eight square metres.

Some years ago I filled our living room floor board gaps with sawdust mixed with PVA. It took me all day, lasted a few months and has fed the vacuum cleaner as it loosened ever since. This stuff is great, my Victorian house has a lot of draughts through windows and floorboards and this stops them. Fast delivery, excellent all round.

Excellent product – really easy and quick to use, so much better than other wood filler which is messy and time consuming. This doesn’t show once its pushed down just below the surface of the board, so makes a much neater finish than putty type fillers. And super speedy delivery – I highly recommend!

This product is simply amazing! I live in an old Victorian conversion flat and have the original wooden floors. My husband and I decided to keep the original floorboards as it was cheaper and he preferred the natural raw look, however, we were faced with a big problem : cold air vented through the gaps of the floorboard and made the downstairs very cold. This stuff is great! Really easy and quick to use and arrived very quickly. Has made an immediate difference and I’m no longer worried about losing things through the gaps in the floorboards. Only improvement I could think of is if there was a wider strip option as some of the gaps between my floorboards are quite big (bigger than 8mm) and the current strip didn’t quite fill it, but was still made a considerable improvement on the big gap. I have finally found the time to use the product and it is brilliant. Not only is it really easy, quick and best of all invisible when inserted but it is also very effective. I have filled all the gaps in the wood flooring in my downstairs hall and it only took 15 minutes and no more draughts. So much better than mashing up sawdust or newspaper cuttings, thank you!

I’ve just installed stopgap between our uneven oak flooring and the skirting and was impressed with how easy it is to put in place. The weather is only just getting cooler so I expect it to be tested more soon, but so far some of the usual drafts are much less, which is great! I like that its quite simple, easy to use and I think its value for money.

I found this product excellent. I wanted to make the most of the lovely original floor board in our 30’s bungalow but my partner was not keen because of the draught issue. Hey presto I put in this question on google and there you came. They really did “what is said on the tin” and was so easy to fit. Happy all round.

Drafty hallway in old victorian house. After sanding we had filled with the sawdust and glue. Looked good but this slowly cracked from the movement and left big draughts up from the ccellar.this product was perfect slotted straight in and definitely noticed an big improvement. Took about an hour to cover 40 metres. Will be buying more for the gaps between skirting and realised I can use it for the kickboards on the kitchen. Which should see us draught free!!

Simple to use but effective immediately. We could physically feel the difference once the last piece was laid and could turn the radiator down to a low setting. It even worked on gaps that were uneven in width. Using it for the skirting boards is a must. Already recommended it to 2 friends with 100% confidence.
Great but simplistic product

Delivered next day as promised. Letterbox size packages(ordered 3 rolls)so did not have to stay in or go and collect.
Like another reviewer the knees took a bashing, but what a product! Went into all gaps and some with a little persuasion. So did the floor and all around the skirting board of the dining room and did not have to buy different thicknesses.
The result, later in the evening you could feel no movement of air and the room was warmer. I am very satisfied customer and will definitely be recommending this product. The credit card still works as well!!!

Highly recommend this product. I used this on my sash windows and it worked perfectly. Really simple to use (even for someone like me with no DIY skills) and has definitely reduced draughts.

It got into gaps where I couldn’t fit a brush type draught excluder and even worked where the gap tapered off (ie. variable widths). Fast delivery (dispatched same day and arrived the next day) too! Very happy customer

Stop Gap is such a simple and effective product. After removing an old carpet, we realised the beauty of the underlying floor boards. Our concern was the cold that the varying gaps (from no gap, up to a centimetre) would bring. By searching on the internet, we found that Stop Gap would be the best option and ordered ten rolls to cover the whole ground floor. Delivery was rapid and perfectly packed to get through the letterbox. The gas were filled very quickly and I can say that there is no draught and the vacuum cleaner does not suck the Stop Gap from the gaps : )

This stuff truly is amazing, and so simple to use!
My spare room / home office was draughty and freezing cold compared to the rest of the house.
I ordered Stopgap which arrived promptly the next day (today).
It took me 30 mins to fit under the skirting boards and in the gaps between the double glazed window seal and the frame. The room was warm half an hour later!

I\’ll probably need to replace the window seals but that can now wait until Summer 🙂

I have original Victorian stripped floorboards in my lounge which are incredibly draughty and I only wish I’d known about this product earlier. I hate DIY and this is so easy to fit, I’ve just ordered my third roll to finish the room. I’ve sealed my floorboards and my sash windows and can feel the difference already. Would recommend this to anyone.

This is the second room I’ve used Stopgap in, it took 30 mins, no fuss and now no drafts. A simple invention that really does work.

I found the product on another site that provided a helpful assessment of the technical performance and compared this to the alternatives. I chose this product as a result together with the apparent simplicity of fitting. My floor is stripped pine and about 200 years old. The gaps were not really wide enough to make it worth while filling them with strips of wood as I had done in other rooms but were wide enough to produce a significant draught. The delivery service worked well with the package fitting through the letter box. The installation of the strip was as easy as the video described, surprisingly satisfying and did exactly what it said it would. It is more or less invisible and the room is noticeably warmer. It is not a substitute for floors with very wide gaps that for appearance sake really need relaying or the insertion of wood fillers because the gaps look no different after the product has been inserted. I am pleased with the result and have been recommending it.

Fantastic product, used for inbetween floorboards and under skirting boards, doing each room as we come to them, (new to us but old house), seems to be blocking the spiders out as well so thats an added bonus.

One of the reasons we bought our old terrace house was for the lovely wooden floors – unfortunately within a few weeks we spotted some slug trails criss-crossing the floor…argh! It took some time to clean the decades of dirt from between the boards but once that was done, putting the stop gap down was very easy, even between uneven boards. And not a slug has been since! I recently draught proofed my Victorian kitchen floor using Stopgap. It arrived the day after I ordered it and it was easy to use. To remove 150 years of dirt in the spaces of the board I simply ran a panel saw down the gaps squeezed in Stopgap and the job was done! The benefit was immediately felt. Highly recommended.

I bought this product quite a while ago but hadn’t used it as I didn’t think it was going to be as easy as you suggest, how wrong was I! I was able to use it between skirting and floorboards as well around my window frames. It was easy and has stopped draughts, I am extremely happy.

Hi, I live in an old old house with stripped wooden floorboards. The living room is over the top of the cellar which is cold, draughty and very very damp. You can actually see the cellar below when the light is on. I used stopgap and as everyone said it is very quick and easy to use. I struggled a little because some of the gaps between the floorboards are too large even for this product. It has made a difference not just in draughts but now when I hoover I get all the dust up that settles between the gaps so the floor looks much cleaner now.
My one big problem is that I still have some draughts because there are gaps between the end of the floor boards and the skirting boards, there is also up to 3 inches between the top of the floorboard and the bottom of the skirting board. Any suggestions on how to deal with this very welcome. I have taken to stuffing wadding everywhere!

This has been a particularly windy and as a result draughty winter. I had stop gaps delivered today and it took two of us only a couple of hours to put down 80m. The result is amazing. We are much warmer, we can hear the gale blowing outside but no longer feel it. I will be buying more to do my mothers house. I recommend this product, it is super easy to use and results are instant.

Our Victorian terrace has stripped wooden floors, which look great but last winter, despite the central heating and double glazing, we were spending evenings shivering, wrapped in fleece blankets and wearing extra socks because of the draughts howling up through the floor. We bought and fitted Stopgap insulation this spring. It took a few hours to prepare the floor and to fit Stopgap, but any difficulty was due to the uneven gaps between the boards: the instructions and advice supplied and available online were clear and straightforward to follow.
Now that winter weather has really set in, the difference in the warmth and comfort of our home is truly remarkable, the fleece blankets have been passed on to the cat and I thought I’d take five minutes over the holiday to thank you for an excellent product which we would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone in a similar situation.

We were recommended Stopgap for our floorboards but I thought I’d try it on the sash windows 1st. A great product which I use for draft proofing external wooden doors. I put StopGap around the doors in autumn and take it out again in the spring when we start wanting the doors open. It makes a huge difference to the drafts coming through in winter. So it may be designed for wooden floors, but I have found that it also does an excellent job around wooden doors and windows.

Floor boards are attractive, but cold. I got the brown stop gap and am really pleased. The downstairs is much warmer now after fitting it, despite the weather getting colder. We used to have the thermostat at 25 and it was still too cold for my wife to spend time down there, now the house at 16 is warm enough for her to be down stairs.

What I was surprised by is that the floors look better, the uniform brown gaps look much neater and more finished. As a result I am now doing the upstairs as well, even though we have sealed ceilings beneath (so drafts weren\’t an issue). I really like how it spans multiple joists and sits very securely.

It\’s ideal to fit before varnishing, so you don\’t get lumps of hardened dust/sawdust between the gaps. That said it\’s not the end of the world, but saves you a bit of time removing it. Also avoid if possible using wood fillers, as you\’ll need to work around them, which adds time. The stop gap fits in surprisingly narrow gaps, but also spans bigger gaps, so just use stopgap.

It\’s a great product and is well worth installing from both an aesthetic and practical point of view. It will easily pay for itself in one winter as the reduction in central heating to maintain a comfortable level is enormous. Very glad a local flooring company recommended it to us.

Moved into a beautiful edwardian house with lovely original floorboards. Only problem: Massive gaps and very draughty! Then I found stopgaps and the problem was solved! Started with the living room, then hallway, now bedroom and just keep coming back to order more.

I ordered on Friday, it arrived Saturday and by the end of Sunday the job was done.I have no DIY skills yet this was so easy.I’ve also used it for window frames.I took longer to complete the task than suggested on the website because I had to spend a long time clearing the debris between the boards.It is brilliant already my house is so much warmer than last year.

I ordered StopGap Thursday afternoon, received it the next day and within an hour I’d sealed all the gaps in my living room. I can’t believe how simple StopGap is to use and how effective it has been. My floor looks just as it did before, you’d never know. The only thing I can think to say to improve would be to send in a cardboard wrapper rather than a plastic one to reduce plastic waste.

At 1st this seemed an expensive product but after reading the English Heritage recommendations I decided to try it. I have raised floorboards in my 130 year old house with only dirt below and an airbrick which ventilates the underneath of the floor. I really didn’t realise how much of a draught I’ve been getting. I can honestly say this product has made a massive difference and my room is at least 1 degree warmer. It is so easy to fit and such a simple product I can’t believe I’ve waited this long to use it!

Tried a short sample – worked a treat on a newly sanded floor. Bought some more and fitted it in about an hour. I had to prepare the gaps a bit as someone had badly filled them with some nasty filler – a wallpaper scraper and a tenon saw come in really handy for this.

Read a Guardian review online about how to fill in those pesky draughty gaps and came to the conclusion that Stopgap seemed by far the far easiest option. Two days later I received my parcel and was eager to start. It was such a simple product to use. The most difficult part was the discomfort of being on my knees for the duration. Luckily it only took me about an hour to fit 40metres worth. I realised just how draughty those gaps were whilst filling in – no wonder we were all getting cold! I\’ve put off filling the gaps between my hallway floorboards for over 5years now because the options open to me seemed time consuming, really messy (papier mache) or too fiddly (lathes/silicon). I only alighted on this possible solution on a message board, otherwise I don’t think I would have discovered it. Amazon has a few suppliers but I don’t think you’re on it.

Absolutely delighted with the product, ease of use and efficacy. I thought I’d have to peel off a backing and fight with stickiness, but you just slot in. Such a simple solution. Many thanks for excellent customer service and quick delivery.

Excellent easy to use product. A simple solution to a common problem. StopGap has STOPPED the cold draught between the floorboards and skirting board. The difference in the room temperature is very noticeable…………..much warmer.

Thank you so much at looong last I have managed to find a solution to the problem I faced. Finally managed to stop the cooking smells coming into my room (located directly above kitchen). I might need to order another roll to completely seal the gaps. Many thanks would recommend to anyone.

Great little product, which has enabled me to fill otherwise impossibly wide holes between floorboards – was even able to securely fill in with Woodflex on top of the strips, once in place.. Great stuff.

Great product. Easy to use and invisible once put down. Reduces dust from the floor cavity and saves heat as well ….with quick delivery you cannot go wrong.

Best buy ever. I started with a small roll and now that I see how easy it is to use and mainly how effective, I’ll be buying bigger rolls. Delivery was super fast too. I ordered it yesterday and it arrived this morning.

Excellent product. Does exactly what it’s meant to, easy to install and once it’s in you can’t see it. Highly recomended.

I brought the starter roll as I wanted to see whether the product worked first. Using the credit card I went along the gaps first and then hoovered up the dirt that came out. Stop gap was easy to fit and I really noticed a difference afterward especially around the skirting board. Before stop gap was installed there was quite a draught but afterwards there was nothing.

I initially bought a starter roll of StopGap a few years ago to use in a small area of my home. I couldn’t believe it actually does what it claims to do so well! I love the fact that you can vacuum over it and it stays in place.
Am now awaiting delivery of a larger roll to do another area of my home. Fantastic!

I Initailly bought 2 x 40 meter (brown) packs for 1 room of my home but as I was so impressed with this product I have since ordered more for the rest of my downstairs. It’s so easy to install and especially brilliant for getting into the really small gaps as it’s rigid enough to push firmly into place!. I cant believe how well hidden it is, you can’t notice it so we now get no draughts but have maintained the same original look!! On our previous property I spent hours filling gaps with newspapers, then filling over with glue and sawdust and never achieved the authentic look we have now!!!!. Really fantastic product, simple and quick to fit. Thank you very much.

I bought a sample of this product and was a little confused as to how and if it could really work, but to my surprise it really does, and it works well, very simple to install, you don’t need any tools and it takes seconds to do. It is a very simple idea that does just what it says on the box. I have since bought the product to do my whole room and received a rebate for the sample I bought. Thanks guys and well done.

Terrific product – has made our Victorian sitting room feel warmer already, even though it’s only partially done. Am just about to order some more.
